Regan isn’t sure who to believe but she knows that no one is telling her the truth about that night.
Regan has to make a decision of how far she is willing to go to learn the truth about her brother’s death even if it means losing everything she knows.
This is the first book in the Tala Prophesies by Tia Silverthorne Bach and I will definitely be reading the next installment. The book started off a little slow for me but I connected with Regan and became frustrated for her as she was searching for answers and wasn’t able to get them. I found myself rooting for her and can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment of this series.
I give this book 4 stars.

Chasing Memories Tala Prophecy Book 1 edition by Tia Silverthorne Bach Jo Michaels Children eBooks Reviews

The Tala Prophecy Series is so addicting you'll find it hard to put down. It's unique, engaging and a wonderful paranormal coming of age story. Reagan is a force and she's got an emotional strength unlike any I've read. With so many twists and turns thrown at her left and right she plows through and is determined to fight the evil coming after her and win. If you're looking for an amazing paranormal, shifter, coming of age story then I highly recommend the Tala Prophecy series.
Chasing Memories was a heart-pounding and suspenseful read. It surprised me in so many ways and for the longest time, I couldn't figure out where the story was headed. Fans of YA paranormal reads will really enjoy this book!

I had a love/hate relationship with Reagan. Sometimes, I wished I had the ability to reach into books and shake some sense into characters. However, she was a very realistic teen character and I thought the author portrayed the thoughts and dialogues of teens in a very honest way. Her emotions were up and down, but she was still a sympathetic character.

The plot started off with plenty of action as Reagan and her brother are attacked at their campsite. Reagan survives, but her brother is presumed dead. Reagan has nightmares about the attack, but never fully remembers what took place. The book follows Reagan as she tries to unravel the mystery and also as she's introduced to the world of the paranormal--most notably werewolves and witches.

Reagan has two love interests Dex and Rafe. Unfortunately, both came across as psychopaths. Dex only wants to use her sexually and Rafe is a creeper who tries to get her drunk and lure her out into the woods. Luckily enough, a new guy made an appearance in the third act and it sounds like he's a much better match.

The pacing was good and I finished the book quickly. The only complaint I have is that I wished the end resolved more. However, it is a series and I do plan to read the next one.

Rating 4.5/5 Stars
I absolutely adore this book! It is an exciting, well written story about Regan Cooper and her family. Without giving too much away, the family goes on a camping trip and during the night Reagans brother is snatched up by an animal. The family is trying to wrap their heads around Sam not coming home, while trying to be a normal family again. Reagans grandmother is staying with them after this tragic event, and she is the person who Reagan feels closest too - especially when the nightmares begin. Her nightmares have wolves, and one in particular with amber eyes. When she tries telling her mom, her response is to take her to see a psychiatrist. Reagan knows it won't help and turns to her grandmother for her help.

Meanwhile, Regan meets the "new kid" Rafe. He seems nice but something just seems...off. Even her dog tried to attack him. I won't go on, you'll have to read it for yourself. You definitely won't regret it!
After an attack on her family while camping, Reagan is still trying to recover weeks later. With her brother gone and her own physical recovery, it’s hard for her to even think about normal. Reagan didn’t at first remember much from the attack, but slowly her nightmares of that night flesh out into dreams that might tell her what really happened, unless it’s all in her head.

I really liked how complete Reagan felt as a character. Her complete backstory and personality were fleshed out and I really felt like I understood her as a person. However, this fullness appears to take away from the plot. A plot that is not apparent throughout the entire book. Also, I never quite knew what Reagan wanted, what her goal was.

Some of the story lines were simply dropped by the end of the novel and the promise of more books in the series doesn’t make me want to read on, it makes me wish I hadn’t picked up this incomplete book in the first place.

Unlike Reagan, her friends didn’t feel very fleshed out and felt more like buffers to the story, just adding padding.

The romance element with Rafe was way too instalove and left me feeling anxious for Reagan’s lack of consent or control with that relationship.
